J.PERIOD has announced a limited edition comic book collaboration with illustrator Dan Lish. This comic book and record set is inspired by "Globetrottin" from the mixtape's king first solo album, Story To Tell (Chapter One), and features Masego, Shad, Jemele Hill and Bobbito Garcia. Titled J.PERIOD Presents The Legend of Globetrottin, the limited edition comic book and 7” record set boasts a custom collectible book with full color illustrations, hand-painted centerfold poster and an exclusive 7” vinyl record with radio and instrumental edits.
J.PERIOD took it a step further with an animated comic book and live action featurette, also called The Legend of Globetrottin'. Featuring Muppet-like puppets made in the likeness of DJ Jazzy Jeff and others, the short film begins in a record store before morphing into a comic book style basketball game starring J.PERIOD, Shad, Hill, Garcia and Masego. The film was created by Lish and animator Olise Forel alongside puppet and production-designers THE BOOM BAP KIDS, aka The Funky Felt Ones.
The story continues in 2023 with J.PERIOD Presents Story To Tell: LIVE, a tandem of headlining dates at The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on January 30 and February 20. J.PERIOD will take center stage with an all-star lineup of Hip Hop luminaries and legendary musicians for a rare live experience. Each show coincides with the release of the next chapter in the Story To Tell album series, J.PERIOD Presents Story To Tell (Chapter Two), which will be available in February. Until then, watch the featurette below and find pre-orders here.
