Dilla Day L.A. is going down on February 10 at 930 Mateo Street in Los Angeles beginning at 8 p.m. PT. Featured performers include Slum Village, J. Rocc and surprise guests. Dilla's mother, Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey, will also be on deck for a meet-and-greet as the celebration of her son gets underway. Local vendors, a donut pop-up and more will provide food and beverages for the event. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday (January 10) and are available here.
J. Dilla is one of Hip Hop's most revered producers. He died in 2006 at the young age of 32 from complications stemming from TTP and lupus. Over the years, his legacy has been preserved by Ma Dukes and many more who loved him and appreciated his art.
Dilla was also part of Slum Village, which was comprised of fellow Detroit natives Baatin and T3. Sadly, T3 is the only surviving member of the original trio. Slum Village now functions as a duo with T3 and Young RJ steering the ship.
