Method Man (real name Clifford Smith) has denied recent allegations of assault. A report published by the New York Post on Thursday (January 16) claimed the Wu-Tang Clan legend punched a 28-year-old man seven times in the face at Crunch Fitness Gym on Staten Island.

But Method Man’s representative, Nicole Perna, refuted the claims, stating he’s not been involved in any such incident, saying in a statement, “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency.”

The New York Police Department also confirmed that no arrest report exists for the alleged incident. The Post article suggested the altercation involved Smith and Patrick Sokoya, an alleged ex-boyfriend of Method Man’s daughter, Cheyenne.

The Post claimed Sokoya filled a report with the NYPD, telling officials he experienced facial pain and dizziness following the incident but declined medical treatment at the scene. Despite these claims, no official action or evidence supports the accusations.

Method Man Denies Assaulting Man At Staten Island Gym

In what seems like an ongoing nightmare with no end in sight, the Los Angeles wildfires continue to wreak havoc on Southern California.

As some of the smoke starts to clear, more and more members of the Hip-Hop community are stepping up to help their fellow creatives, including Pete Rock and DJ Spinna. On Monday (January 13), both veteran producers shared <a href="https://donorbox.org/madlibrebuild">a fundraising link for Madlib</a>, who just lost everything he owns to the massive blazes. 

“We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support in helping legendary producer Madlib and his family rebuild after losing their home, decades of music, and equipment in the devastating LA fires,” the description reads. “Your donation, no matter the amount, will provide essentials, temporary housing, and tools to help Madlib continue creating the music that has touched so many lives. 100% of your donations are tax deductible and will go directly to Madlib and his family. LOVElikeWATER, is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that supports artists through life’s challenges.” 

Rock added, “Say less,” while DJ Spinna wrote, “Please help my brother @madlib. Any amount, large or small. #spreadtheword #thishurts #prayforla.”

Madlib is among the many who are in the midst of not only staying safe but having to accept the harsh reality that everything he’s worked for has been destroyed. DJ Premier recently called on the Hip-Hop community to help fellow beatsmith Jazimoto, who lost her family home in Altadena.

“My dear friend and fellow Producer Jazimoto (Jasmine Morris) just lost her family home in Altadena, California due to the ongoing fire,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “She’s a classically trained Pianist and Violinist and has worked with M.O.P. and recently our joint album with @teflon_m.o.p ‘2 Sides To Every Story.’ Her Father is renowned Jazz artist Wilbur Morris and her 80 year old Mom is Mari Morris, a former art professor.

“Not only did the fire claim her home, she lost all of her musical instruments, computers, a massive record collection including a piano gifted to her by her Dad. I put a GoFundMe link in my bio. Any contribution is appreciated. Extreme prayers up for everyone going through this chaos.”

Hip-Hop Community Rallies Around Madlib After He Loses Everything To L.A. Fires

Dr. Dre turned 60 on Tuesday (February 18), and Eminem was among the first to wish him a Happy Birthday on social media. Alongside a photo of himself with the prolific producer, Eminem wrote simply, "Still Dre. D-R-E." 

Eminem and Dr. Dre share one of the most influential partnerships in Hip-Hop history. Their relationship began in 1997, when Dre discovered Eminem's demo tape and was immediately impressed by his lyrical ability. Despite skepticism from industry insiders about signing a white rapper, Dre took a chance on Eminem, producing his breakthrough album, The Slim Shady LP (1999). The album's success cemented their bond, with Dre's signature production style elevating Eminem’s storytelling and delivery. Over the years, Dre continued to play a crucial role in shaping Eminem's sound, producing classic albums like The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show and Encore.

Beyond music, their friendship has remained strong for over two decades. Dre has often referred to Eminem as one of his greatest protégés, while Eminem has consistently credited Dre for changing his life and career. They have continued to collaborate, with Eminem appearing on Dre's projects and vice versa, including tracks like "Forgot About Dre" and "Crack a Bottle."

Beyond music, his business acumen led to the creation of Beats by Dre, a headphone brand that he sold to Apple for $3 billion in 2014, cementing his status as one of the wealthiest figures in the music industry.
